2 of my favorite emcees of the past 10 years, period. Off of Oh No’s upcoming OhNomite which drops June 5th. Dope.
Meyhem Lauren ft. Action Bronson & Heems – Special Effects
Man, all three of these dudes are in my favorites list right now. These guys are keeping Hip Hop fun without ditching the lyrical side of things, and I can really dig that. Action Bronson has been a BEAST so far this year, and that Well Done project he did with Statik Selektah is still getting mad rotation round here. This cut comes to you off Meyhem’s upcoming Respect The Fly Shit, which was apparently recorded entirely during SXSW in Austin this year.
Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap (Trailer)
Man, I don’t know how I’ve been sleepin’ on this trailer for over a month, but somehow it happened. I need to step my game up! Anyway, peep the trailer up top and get excited cause this could prove to be the most comprehensive Hip Hop documentary to date. Holy Integrated People Havin Omnipresent Power!
Brown Bag AllStars Present: J57 – 2057 EP

Well, I found my soundtrack for the week. With dudes like Soul Khan, DJ Brace, Meyhem Lauren, Action Bronson, Homeboy Sandman and Chuwee involved….how the hell could it not be dope? Listen/support below.
El-P – The Full Retard (VIDEO)
Homeboy Sandman – I Do Whatever I Want (Prod. Mr Familiar)
Off Homeboy’s Chimera EP.
Charlie.Rose – iHateYouCharlieRose

There are many reasons to like Andre White a.k.a. Charlie.Rose.
Straight out of Norfolk, Virginia, he’s hard to find in the vast and unrelenting forest of lyrical Joe Shmoes. But experiencing his music gives you a feeling similar to that sweet satisfaction you get when you find a needle in a haystack. You know, if you ever actually played that game.
He has an energetic flow with a snappy, upbeat voice to match. His beats give you an irresistible urge to tap your feet and, after playing his new concept album iHateYouCharlieRose on repeat a few times like I have, you find yourself singing the sampled hooks to yourself in your head while going about your every day business.
This six-track long concept album follows the emcee as he pursues contact with an old flame who is apparently residing in Manhattan, as you can gather in the intro. Throughout the rest of the introduction, the theme of the album comes to light.
“…I know you said the- I know the last time we spoke you said, ‘I hate you,’ and that cut deep but lately all I’ve been wanting is more of you. I-I just want more of you.”
So give him a listen below. It’s well worth it, and definitely a good addition to any hip-hop head’s collection.
Indefinite – Thanatos Reign Vol. 1 [Mixtape]

Whattup y’all! The homie Indefinite sent me this yesterday and I meant to get it up then but life had other plans. Just so we’re clear, this dude isn’t even old enough to vote yet, and he’s got a better message and flow than the majority of dudes coming out right now. It’s emcees and projects like this that re-instill hope of an intelligent, caring future generation. If you want to hear some dope lyricism and a complete lack of auto-tune, club tracks (with the possible exception of a dope ass Rack City re-working), and Rick Ross-esque adlibs, peep this mixtape! And the best part is, dude is letting you name your own price if you wanna support the cause. If Waka can get away with charging anything for a project, you can give this dude a few bucks of your hard earned money for the dedication and dope lyricism displayed here. Tech N9ne ft. ¡MAYDAY! – The Noose (Video)
Recently Tech linked up with ¡MAYDAY! to shoot a video for what has proven to be one of Tech N9ne’s most relevant and touching songs to date. This is the song that sparked a whole new Strange Music with the signing of ¡MAYDAY!, and shut the mouths of anyone who said Tech N9ne’s music lacked substance (See: Pretty much his entire catalog). Dope video. Dope song. Dope message. DOPE!
Kuntry Noiz – Cultural Exchange Volume 1 (Nujabes Tribute) [FreEP]
So last week, the homie Devine Carama sent me a track from this KY trio Kuntry Noiz, and it was dope as shit. After days of listening to everything I could find from these guys, the homie Devine pulled another solid and sent over the new Free EP from these dudes and it’s just as dope as everything else I’ve been able to find. This EP Cultural Exchange Vol 1. is a tribute to legendary Japanese DJ/Producer Nujabes, who i’ve since been feverishly googling and youtubing as well. I see this EP getting steady rotation for a while, so do your ears a favor and cop it for free right now. Stream/Download down below.
