¡MAYDAY!’s New Drinking Game [Video]

This shit is hilarious! Man I just give Wrek props for actually going off the top of the head! Nowadays “freestyle” usually means “i’m not actually looking at the paper this very second”, so I’ll take a few extra “my name is Wrekonize” lines over that any day! Definitely gonna test this game out this weekend, might have to space it out a little more than they did though! Thrift Store Halos is out NOW!

Tech N9ne X AllHipHop.com [Interview]

Recently, AllHipHop.com caught up with the Kansas City King and discussed all things Strange. Tech shares the progress of his upcoming album, potential features and collaborations, and addresses accusations of going “mainstream”. All us Technicians know the mainstream goes TECH, not the other way around. Peace!

Immortal Technique Appears on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, Dopeness Ensues

As most of y’all regular readers (we love y’all by the way, every last one of you) know, we keep things mostly track and video oriented here at the D.o.D., but today we’ve got something a little different for you. One of my favorite emcees ever, Immortal Technique, recently appeared on what has become my favorite source of entertainment ever, the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Joe Rogan (yes, the dude from Fear Factor and UFC) has a super fuckin’ dope podcast that he puts out for free, sometimes up to 3-4 times a week, where he discusses all kinds of fringe shit. We’re talkin government conspiracies, methods of reaching enlightenment, psychoactive drugs, sasquatch, anything and everything you’re not likely to hear on CNN or even Colbert Report. So after months and months of twitter and facebook demanding that Immortal Technique be brought on to discuss all things sociopolitical, Joe listened and one of the dopest 3 hours of conversation ever ensued. Peep the video below, and make sure to keep up with Tech and Joe on twitter and their respective websites to stay up to date.

¡MAYDAY! – Thrift Store Halos EP [Trailer]

Today, Miami-based Strangers ¡MAYDAY! unleashed a video previewing their upcoming EP Thrift Store Halos, which drops August 7th and is available for pre-order right now. The EP will feature verses from Strange Music’s own Brotha Lynch Hung and Ces Cru as well as a track with Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. I don’t now about y’all but here at the Dharma of Dope the anticipation is palpable. Take Me To Your Leader is arguably one of the top albums of 2012 already, and with features like that on the horizon we can only expect something equally dope.

Slaughterhouse to Collaborate With Black Hippy? DOPE!

So, XXL unleashed some of the dopest news I’ve heard in a while a few days ago, and somehow it flew under my radar until today! On Sunday, @OfficiallyIce tagged members of both crews in a tweet saying “I found a beat…”. The tweet received over a thousand re-tweets before Joe Budden of Slaughterhouse replied saying that Slaughterhouse was down with the idea, and hours later members of both camps were tweeting about the process of putting the track together. This could possibly be the dopest track of 2012, and I know i’m not the only one that’s excited about it. This track should be a great move on the behalf of both groups as they’re both comprised of incredible lyricists with distinct styles. Can’t wait to see what comes of this. Until that fateful day arrives, we still have Slaughterhouse’s Welcome To: Our House and Kendrick’s Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City  projects to look forward to.

¡MAYDAY! Announce Upcoming Ep “Thrift Store Halos”

It feels like just yesterday that the Miami-based 6 piece ¡MAYDAY! signed to Strange Music, but here we are a few months and one dope-as-fuck album later, and we’re already being treated to news of more tracks? Today ¡MAYDAY! took to Facebook and Twitter to announce that their next Strange Music release will be an EP titled Thrift Store Halos and will be coming out “very very soon”. I don’t know about y’all but Take Me To Your Leader is still getting MAD rotation around these parts, and I can’t wait to see what they do with this next project. Straaaaaange!

GZA + Neil DeGrasse Tyson = Game. Over.

First of all, this is the greatest photograph ever captured.

Yeah, you read that right. According to a Wall Street Journal article, Wu-Tang Clan’s genius GZA is teaming up with the best thing to happen to educational entertainment since Bill Nye, Neil DeGrasse Tyson (as well as top physicists and cosmologists from MIT and Cornell…but whatever, fuckin’ NDGT!) to create an educational Hip Hop album about the cosmos, which will be titled Dark Matter. Dark Matter will apparently be the first in a series of educational albums from the Genius, the next of which is set to cover the ocean. As a Hip Hop head and a nerd, this is the dopest news i’ve heard in months, just imagine if you can… this:

Anyway, peep the trailer up top and get excited cause this could prove to be the most comprehensive Hip Hop documentary to date. Holy Integrated People Havin Omnipresent Power!
